Latte macchiato
To make a latte macchiato you need 3 minutes, 9 g of finely ground FREDDO Espresso and 200 ml of milk. First froth the milk and pour it into a tall glass. Then let it rest briefly so the hot milk settles below and the foam above. Only then pour an espresso slowly through the foam. Because the espresso is heavier than the foam and lighter than the milk, it settles as a layer in between. That creates the three layers latte macchiato is known for: milk at the bottom, coffee in the middle, foam on top. It is best to pull the espresso into a small jug and pour it in a thin stream. A tall, clear glass shows the layers best. The longer the milk rests, the sharper the lines between them. Stir in sugar only when you drink it, otherwise the layers mix too early.

A caffè latte is an espresso with plenty of hot milk and only a little foam, served in a cup or glass. Unlike a latte macchiato, the espresso goes in first and the milk after it, so there are no layers.
How do I keep the layers in a latte macchiato?
Let the milk rest for about 30 seconds after frothing and pour the espresso in slowly, ideally over the back of a spoon.
