Americano
To make an americano you need 2 minutes, 18 g of finely ground FREDDO Espresso and 120 to 150 ml of hot water. Pour the hot water into the cup first, then pull a double espresso straight on top. The order has a reason: the crema stays on top and is not broken up by water poured in afterwards. With 120 ml the americano is stronger, with 150 ml milder, so you can match it to your taste. The water should be hot but no longer boiling. Many machines have a separate hot water outlet for this. Choose a larger cup so water and espresso fit comfortably, and warm it briefly. If you like milk, add a splash only at the end. An americano is a good choice when you want to sip your coffee for longer and still keep the taste of espresso.

Tips and variations
Americano or caffè crema?
For an americano, hot water is added to a finished espresso and the crema stays on top. For a caffè crema, all the water runs through the ground coffee. That is why the americano often tastes rounder.
What is a long black?
A long black is a double espresso poured onto hot water, so the crema stays on top; it usually has a little less water than an americano.
How do I make an iced americano?
Fill a glass with ice cubes and 120 ml of cold water and pull the double espresso straight on top.
